How to fix coverage or reception issues?

Modified on Mon, 10 Nov at 10:16 AM

We've carefully selected our partners to give you the very best 5G and 4G connections. We have partnered with multiple networks to provide you with the most reliable coverage. However, speed and coverage vary by country and network, hence, we are constantly updating our partners, to troubleshoot country-specific network.

For the latest network settings, please start a chat with us and we'll be able to help you with country-specific support.

How do I change networks?

Once you reach your destination, your phone will automatically connect to the strongest network signal at that time. If you're moving about, another network may have a stronger signal in other parts of that country.

It may be possible to connect to another provider in that country.

To change networks on Android, head into Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Operators and deselect the setting titled 'select automatically'. A pop up will appear confirming you want to select a network manually. Select 'OK'.

A selection of networks will then appear (The networks will vary based on your country/region). Tap the network you'd like to connect to and confirm this option by selecting 'OK' on the pop up that appears.

To change networks on IOS, head into Settings > Mobile Service > your eSIM > Network Selection and deselect the setting titled 'Automatic'. A selection of networks will then appear (The networks will vary based on your country/region). Tap the network you'd like to connect to.

Do you throttle / restrict data speed?

No, at Orbit Mobile we will never "slow you down"; you can use your data allowance as you like and our plans are completely transparent. However, remember that coverage and speed can vary by country and network; if you are in an urban area at peak times, all networks can be busy/congested while in rural areas coverage will not be as reliable.

If you're experiencing reception issues, make this quick check:

  • Are you on the move? Travelers on the move (car, train, etc.) may experience inconsistent reception and/or data speeds. Maintaining consistent 5G and 4G coverage while you're in a car/train, etc. is difficult as you're coming in some out-of-reception areas, switching from a cell-tower to another cell-tower.
  • Busy area? If you're in an urban area, at peak times some networks can become busy/congested.
  • Rural area? While our partners offer great coverage, as is the case at home, in rural areas, coverage may not be as reliable.
  • Bad weather? As you may have experienced at home, extreme weather can impact signal.
  • Which network do you use?

For our most popular destinations we have more than one partner. Start a chat conversation with us and we can provide you with the latest country-specific information.

We are committed to providing you with reliable high-data speed connection. Your Orbit Mobile travel eSIM can connect you in over 170 countries where we have local partnerships to help you stay connected.
